Compliance Payroll Auditing Services
Our firm provides compliance payroll audit services for Taft-Hartley Fringe Benefit funds. We perform the following services:
Select contractors for Compliance Payroll Audits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreements including random sample procedures and selective compliance audits.
Obtain the employer's payroll and hours. records and compare such records to payroll tax forms and W-2 forms.
Compare employee names on payroll records and payroll tax reports names. reported to the
Fringe Benefit Funds on monthly remittance reports.
For employees not reported to the Fringe benefit funds on monthly remittances, determine if those individuals worked in covered positions, as defined in the collective bargaining agreements, by use of payroll department codes, by tracing to remittance reports for other trades, and by inquiry and observations.
Compare payroll rates of pay to the collective bargaining agreements.
For covered employees, compare hours and pay from the payroll records to hours and pay reported on the monthly remittance reports.
Review non-payroll sources, including the disbursements journal and 1099 forms to identify possible compensation to employees, subcontractors, or possible related companies.
Review findings with the employer. After considering the employer.s comments and any additional information, report the findings to the Board of Trustees of the Fringe Benefit Funds.
Prepare monthly reports for review by the Board of Trustees of the Fringe Benefit Funds.
Follow up audit findings with Fund professionals.
